Our CEO reacts to the AI Opportunities Action Plan
Our CEO Mark Taylor gave reaction to media today on the government’s AI Opportunities Action Plan which aims to ramp up AI adoption in the UK.
In summary:
– At a time when the national economy is grappling with challenging economic headwinds, the AI Opportunities Action Plan demonstrates Keir Starmer and this government’s steadfast commitment to ensuring the transformative benefits of AI reach every part of the economy and people’s lives.
– This much awaited document is a significant moment for the UK’s AI sector signalling a focus on opportunities, innovation and growth, yet misses the opportunity to provide concrete clarity on regulation which we understand is holding back investment.
– It is concerning that regulation is being coupled with caution as this is far from the case. As the global AI sector experiences an unprecedented surge in investment, we together with Lord Ranger of Northwood warned last month that ongoing policy ambiguity risks stalling innovation and pushing developers and investors to more structured markets. Investors are nervous because there presently no clear roadmap for regulation, one that balances safety with innovation.
– There are British-owned, frontier, cutting edge technology companies like us driving the hashtag AI revolution, and we are proud to be sponsoring the official inaugeration party when our delegation head to Washington this week.
– In Washington will be representing the UK’s AI sector and highlighting the significant inward investment opportunities for Doncaster including our campaign to create the world’s first net zero AI Cloud Data Centre powered powered by renewable energy windmills off the coast of the Humber discussed with The Rt Hon Ed Miliband Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change last month.
📣Creation of AI Growth Hubs is also an exciting opportunity for Doncaster, where by business is based, already a Centre of Excellent for Artificial Intelligence and spearheading creation of the world’s first net zero AI Cloud Data Centre powered powered by renewable energy windmills off the coast of the Humber which I discussed with The Rt Hon Ed Miliband Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change last month.
